About Joe Breyette

The artist and owner, Joseph Breyette was born and raised right along the shores of Lake Champlain. At a very early age was introduced into the world of hunting and fishing and it became his entire focus. Although hunting and fishing was a great way to spend each and every day he had another calling and that was to serve his country.

In 1984, I joined the United States Army as an Infantry Soldier and started a very successful career. During my service in the Army, I was fortunate enough to be stationed in quite a few states and countries which only encouraged my passion for hunting and fishing.

So whether it was catching shark off the coast of California, hunting grizzly in Alaska, or chasing elk around the mountains in Washington, Idaho, or Montana I have been able to see up close and personal the many different species and sub species of most North American animals, mammals and fish.

While preparing for retirement, I knew I wanted to spend the rest of my days doing something I enjoyed each and every day. I decided that taxidermy was my new passion, with this decision I attended the American Institute of Taxidermy in 2007. After serving just over 22 years, I retired from the US Army and moved back towards my hometown and settled down in Malone.

Although, I have attended formal training and was certified in all aspects of taxidermy, I believe there is no such thing as too much knowledge or experience. I continue to hone my skills, learn new techniques, and keep up-to-date on the latest products and tools from some of the best taxidermists in the field through taxidermy competitions and seminars.

I have also attended additional formal training from some of the biggest names in the industry to include World Champion fish artist Rick Krane, World champion whitetail artist Bill Yox, and National champion in several categories Bill Bowen.
